Lydia Sue I Love You.

I cannot get enough of you Lydia, you are quite the dream. I think this month was my favorite yet. Your personality is starting to peek its way out, and my front row seat for this evolution is just the best. Your big innocent grin melts my heart and erases all my impatience. I love your bowed lips and the way your tongue points out slightly when you are happy. Your new constant squaking is hilarious and darling and impressively loud. Thank you for all the spit bubbles you are blowing at me, you are so kind! ;) Those huge curious blue eyes are absolutely beautiful and help remind me to slow down and see life like you see it, full of mini adventures and challenges: Climb on the laundry basket! Pull down all the books! Some days you are squirmy and feisty and get into every trash bin and outlet and decoration in sight (let the messes begin ;) ). Other times you sit silently and study a balloon or a book for 20 minutes straight. I love your little yoga pose, with one skinny leg stretched hiiiigh in the air. I applaud your adventurous eating; you've liked everything you've tried - minus bananas. You spit those slimy things right out. When Daddy comes home and tickles you, your happy little giggle is infectious and adorable. Confession: the last three nights I've gotten you out of your crib and just snuggled you for a little because I missed your perfect pink cheeks and tiny fingers and mile-long lashes. (Crazy I KNOW! Two months ago I would've never dreamed of touching a sleeping baby. Now I miss playing with you! Ha.) I love how you swing your legs and smile in excitement every time you get to sit in the shopping cart at Target and we bump along the road. I love how you feed yourself bits of berries and bread and usually miss but sometimes make it! I loved today when I set up a trail of Cheerios and you happily crawled along and ate them all. I don't love when you're exhausted and refuse to nap, but you're so stinkin cute I guess we'll just sit and cuddle and read your 2 favorite touch-and-feel books again and again. Your new shyness is comical - when you see a stranger you immediately look at the ground! If you can't see them they can't see you, right? I love when I run upstairs to grab something, and come back to see you at the bottom staring up, looking for me. Whenever you are sad or scared or hungry or tired you just want me - your mama. What an honor. It is such a sacred calling and blessing to be your mother. I heard recently that love is making room for someone else. I'm so lucky to be given the chance to love you, it is not hard at all to make room for someone so perfect. You are everything, Lydia Sue.

You Are Fabulous, San Francisco

Back in February, Lydia and I flew out to visit Livi in San Fransisco! Olivia is finishing her last semester at FIDM because she is amazing like that. Everything is project based so she only has class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Crazy right?? So we had 5 whole days to wander the streets, stare at crazy people, and eat at awesome places.

Mr. Holmes Bakery was a must! And literally a 5 minute walk from Olivia's apartment. Her location is perfection - right in the heart of the city.

We waited in that left line ^^^ for like 10 minutes before deciding we didn't want to try a cruffin (croissant muffin, copied from cronut) that bad. Haha so we skipped to the right line and waited 30 seconds for regular pastries.

Kazaam. Who needs cruffins.

Lots of shopping :). Twinning at Zara's and thrifting in Haight Ashbury. Olivia's roommate showed us this awesome vintage store! Racks and racks of incredible stuff (a mix of new and vintage) for really cheap. I even saw that Free People dress everyone is wearing these days for $30!

Lydia refused to sleep in her makeshift blanket bed we'd squished into Livi's closet. Poor thing! So each night around 1am I'd give in and just cuddle with her.

Hahaha major struggle to get a jumping pic.

Cutest couple, no?? One day this will be Michael and me.

More yummy food...

Sushi Burrito!

Most creative flavors ever at the The Ice Cream Bar. I got lavendar graham cracker honeycomeb or something like that.

Stay classy, SF.

On Sunday before church we drove out to Hippie Swing and had a picnic at the coolest place. There's just this random tree swing on a sort-of-secluded hill, and we had the whole thing to ourselves! Note the Golden Gate Bridge in the background!! Such a pretty lookout.

Thanks Liv for showing off your incredible city! Maybe one day I can be as cool as you and live in the best city in the world. Peace out SF!

Mama D's Birthday Bash

When my family was all in town a few weeks ago, we decided to surprise my mom and celebrate her birthday early!

My sisters and I corralled her favorite flowers (hydrangeas) and some Anthroplogie lotions and potions the night before, and then the next morning silently snuck out of the house at 5 freezing 30 AM to get donuts at the legendary Banbury Cross. Because it's totally normal to go get sugar that early ha ;). Mom wakes up wicked early and we really wanted her to wake up to donuts! (And shockingly there were like 6 other people there?!)

SURPRISE!

Mama Darcey really does have it all goin on. For starters she's stunning. She is everyone's best friend.  She's constantly running around doing 7 million things for other people: decorating an entire clubhouse, serving in her calling, arranging house cleaning jobs for other people in Spanish, the list goes on. She really "gets it" and always keeps us grounded. Love that girl.

HAHAHA didn't quite make the donut-over-the-eye pose.

Banbury Cross//

Maple old fashion donut was on point.
And the blueberry donut was just as delish as everyone has talked it up to be.

After eating donuts we wanted to go to the gym, ha. But it would've cost each person $20 for visitor passes!! Crazy right? So... gym shmim. Dad went skiing while us girlies headed out to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The updated Family Search center is really cool! They hand you each an iPad as soon as you walk in and you can dock it at all these different stations and up pops your personal information. Your heritage (apparently I'm like 4% from New Zealand!), ancestors' stories, the meaning behind your name, etc. Then we ate lunch at the beautiful Garden Room upstairs!

Shrimp tacos were BOMB.
Just go split those and a salad with someone and you will be a happy camper.

HBD MOM! We love you!

Easter Brunch

Contrary to what our husbands think, Lizzy and I are not actually dating.

We did, though, snapchat eachother 24/7 to plan an Easter Brunch for some med school friends!

We were pretty sure it was going to snow the night before, so last minute we moved all my furniture into my bedroom and set up the tables inside!

Then of course it was actually perfect outside - but it worked out great having the food inside and all the games outside.
Aaaand we rented bunnies! This guy on ksl was trying to get rid of his bunnies (who had done the bunny thing and multiplied by a kazillion) so we got them for super cheap.

The menu:
Fruit
Cinni Rolls
Veggie & Ham Quiche
Coconut Cakes
Yogurt Bar

After eating we had the egg hunt!

Which was followed by games, pictures and chasing the runaway bunnies ;).

I also made three piƱatas! I saw a tutorial on the blog Oh Happy Day and thought I'd give it a go.

Diclaimer: it took forEVER to make them, but they turned out to be a huge hit! (Get it?)

Makeshift bandana for the adults.

Thanks to all who came!

If only I could find a way to get paid to plan parties... ;)
